Stockholm, March 13 (Hibya) - Leonid Volkov, the former head of Alexey Navalny's Anti-Corruption Foundation, was attacked outside his home in Lithuania on Tuesday.
The attacker broke Volkov's car window and mace his face before repeatedly hitting him with a hammer, Navalny's press secretary Kira Yarmysh reported to X.
Ivan Zhdanov, the current Director of the Anti-Corruption Foundation, also confirmed the attack, saying, "Leonid Volkov was attacked with a hammer. He was taken to the hospital."
Volkov later published a video on his Telegram channel stating that he returned home after receiving treatment in the hospital. He said the attacker broke one of his arms but failed to break his legs despite hitting him "about 15 times" with a hammer. Volkov said he would give a more detailed statement later but described the attack as "an obvious, characteristic, typical, gangster-style greeting from Putin."
